JUNIOR CYCLE
First year students are given the opportunity to study as broad a range of subjects as possible. Included in the First Year curriculum is Computer Studies which allows students to obtain "hands on" experience of computers.
Second year options are planned so that students can study for the Junior Certificate according to their aptitude. In doing so the number of subjects is reduced to nine. At the end of the junior cycle the Junior Certificate Examination is taken, at Higher, Ordinary, or Foundation level
LEAVING CERTIFICATE
The range of Leaving Certificate subjects allows students to pursue a variety of options, e.g. English, Irish, Mathematics and options in Science, Business, Languages or Practical subjeects See subjects list
TRANSITION YEAR Students may choose to take an optional Transition Year Programme. This is a creative programme aimed at maturing students and providing new experiences. We encourage students to take initiatives in their own learning and take responsibility for their own future. Teaching methods used are active and help develop a wide range of cognitive and problem-solving skills in students.
The course lays foundations for improved performance in the Leaving Certificate. Fourth Year also provides insight into the world of work and assists in preparation for future careers. |
